Parent Education

A major goal of the Parent Education Program is to help adults increase their parenting skills through learning about child development, early literacy, communication skills, social skills, and community resources. Parents, Grandparents, Guardians and Caregivers can learn skills that enable their families to thrive.

Parents and children meet in small groups and engage in activities designed to:

  • improve parenting skills
  • increase self-awareness
  • develop empathic family interaction
  • learn behavior management strategies
  • gain an understanding of child developmental
  • understand how to promote early literacy in children

Parents and Caregivers are asked to make a commitment to attend 10 sessions which present specific goals and activities. Classes are for adults with children of all ages and typically meet for one hour each week.
