The Smith's Success Story
 The Smith’s and their child will be completing five years of Healthy
Families services on January 31, 2008! The Smith’s were first-time parents
and have done an excellent job parenting their son who will be turning five years
old this month. Over the years, the couple has expanded their jewelry business
to Sedona and Mrs. Smith takes courses to improve her entrepreneurship skills.
At enrollment, the Smith’s were very doubtful of their parenting capabilities.
Mrs. Smith shared concern about her inability to be patient and getting angry
easily. With the help of the Family Support Specialist, the couple learned to
share in the parental responsibilities of child-rearing and discipline. Mr. Smith
was also very aware of his wife’s impatience and short-temper and has learned
to work with his wife to dissipate tense situations. The child is very intelligent
and attends pre-school and is doing excellent in school. The Smith’s are
skilled at planning and organizing their schedules which allows them to spend
quality time with their child despite their busy schedules.
